About
Everett Redente (he/they) is a queer and trans masculine social worker. He
currently works as the program manager of transgender health at CareOregon,
a coordinated care organization under Oregon Medicaid. He supports
individuals with access to gender affirming care through advocacy,
education, and community organizing. He has previously worked within the
micro, mezzo, and macro areas of the social work field, predominantly
working for and with other trans and gender diverse folks. He has provided
trainings to audiences of all ages and sizes on a variety of topics, but
mostly recently he presented at the World Professional Association of
Transgender Health (WPATH) Scientific Symposium in Lisbon, Portugal in
September 2025. He is passionate about advocacy, community education, and
transformative justice as he envisions a world where trans folks are free
from violence.
Everett has been creating safer spaces, advocating for, and working to update policies to be more inclusive for the LGBTQIA+ community since 2010, while outwardly identifying as part of the LGBTQIA+ community since 2007. He came out as transgender in 2011 and navigated through the very limited network of gender affirming care providers in Connecticut, his home state, with and without support from insurance. Since 2011, Everett has lived in several cities and states and is now residing in Portland, Oregon. He has seen policies regarding trans people and healthcare go from non-existent, to banned, to included, to excluded again (in many states). Although Everett currently resides in what is regarded as a trans-friendly city, he advocates for timely, affirming care for folks in Oregon and out of state whenever possible. He decided to get his LCSW several years after graduating with his MSW in frustration with a medical system that encourages cisgender people to profit from the gatekeeping and policing of transgender and nonbinary people.
